This album is an attempt to collect all the photos from the same period into a single sequence. This album contains nearly all my photos from before 1950. As always you are welcome to add comments at the bottom of the page. I am especially eager for help from anyone who has better dates or better identifications of the people in these photos.
Thomas Francis O'Rourke (c. 1900)
I, Warren Francis, am the son of Michael Francis, who is the son of Michael Vincent, who is the son of Thomas Francis Meagher O'Rourke, who was the son of Owen O'Rourke a Catholic living in Protestant Northern Ireland, who fled Ireland to Liverpool, England, where he met and married a runaway girl from Black Rock ("just behind Dublin, ye know"). Her name was Anne Armstrong, and Owen carried her away to the Americas where they ended up as residents of the Confederate States of America. My great-grandfather, the guy in this picture, was named by his Mom for Thomas Francis Meagher (pronounced MARR), the New York Irishman who founded the "Fighting 69th" New York Infantry Regiment. Meagher was the most famous of all the immigrants to arrive In Ireland.
