Very Old Photos (before 1950)
This album is an attempt to collect all the photos from the same period into a single sequence. This album contains nearly all my photos from before 1950. As always you are welcome to add comments at the bottom of the page. I am especially eager for help from anyone who has better dates or better identifications of the people in these photos.
One of Carol's Tate Ancestors (c. 1885)
One of Carol's Tate Ancestors (c. 1885)

This is an expensive photo of a wealthy woman. The Tates were land-owners in Black Belt Alabama. Tates owned the feed and grain store in Demopolis, they had extensive property in Hale and Sumter Counties, one of Carol's great-uncles was a physician in Livingston, Alabama, and even in the 20th Century, even as recently as that, one of Carol's Tate relatives had her home at York, Alabama, featured in "Architectural Digest" magazine. Not only that, Carol's cousin Ralph Tate was an important lawyer around Birmingham and his former home in Mountain Brook, Alabama, was one of the fanciest mansions in our area.
