Carol's Parents and Grandparents (c. 1951)
From left to right: Bill Harvey, T. L. Dearman, Sr., Thelma Harvey, and Sally Tate Dearman. Study the expressions on these faces and then try to imagine what these people were thinking as Carol snapped this picture. Can you guess why Mary Elsie folded in the face of disapproval from Carol's grandmother? (Jacob and Sarah: the two older people in this photo are your great-great-grandparents, Thomas and Sally Dearman; the two younger folks are your great-grandparents, Bill and Thelma Harvey.) Jeez! Try to imagine coping with a mother-in-law like Ms. Dearman.
