Thomas Francis Meagher O'Rourke (c. 1900)
This guy was Warren's great-grandfather. He was a Confederate soldier and later became a wealthy Mobile businessman. (Meagher is pronounced MARR. There were thousands of Irishmen named after Thomas Francis Meagher who, among many other things, was the original colonel of the 69th New York Infantry, the famous "Fighting 69th." Meagher was a very real hero to Irish immigrants in the United States. How else would a Confederate from Alabama be named for a guy who lived in New York?) Please note that this photo was made when T.F. was 49 years old! Like my father D.F., old T.F. was always very boyish in appearance.
